It’s been a week since Melania Trump made perhaps her most famous blunder yet, choosing to wear an article of clothing so offensive, it baffled an entire nation.
Comedian George Lopez took a swipe at first lady Melania Trump’s infamous jacket choice last week, wearing similar apparel with the message: “Keep the kids, deport the racist.”
TMZ was first to report that the Hispanic actor was in talks with clothing store owners Kristin Fedyk and Alberto Hernandez, who own the Inland store in Venice, California, to sell jackets bearing the swapped message.
My @georgelopezstore will be making these items , money donated to organizations focused on reuniting parents and their children 😂😂 these jackets and shirts you’ll find also other than my store @hatsbyalberto #chingon #thisisamerica @comedygetdown @realdlhughley @cedtheentertainer @eddiegriffin @roxarroyo58 @bigboy @bigcitric @mrchuygomez @arseniohall @jackieredmond @officialjackieg @momorodriguez @ivancejatv @ivancejatv @iamrubenpaul @laloalcaraz1 @alyshadelvalle @officialraulcastillo @boxerbray10 @josemangin @jpconnelly @jpcastillomusic @aimeegarcia4realz @marlatellez @marcanthony @morgan_murphy @kimcrossman @almadrigal @mariolopezextra @tiffanyhaddish @therealkengriffeyjr @flytetymejam @samuelljackson @votolatino @undocumedia @deportedveteran @sherylunderwood
Lopez stood with close friend and fellow comedian D.L. Hughley over the weekend sporting a pair of jackets which harped on the first lady’s controversial jacket from last week, which she wore while traveling to a detainment center currently holding hundreds of immigrant children. That jacket bore the words: “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?”
Lopez is reportedly only looking to sell a few hundred jackets and shirts with the new message and plans to donate the funds to a charity aimed at reuniting migrant children separated from their families at the border.
The first lady’s spokeswoman attacked the negative media coverage of the jacket, declaring that “there was no hidden message.”
However, President Trump himself delegitimized that statement writing in a tweet that the message referred to “the Fake News Media.”
“Melania has learned how dishonest they are, and she truly no longer cares!” he wrote.
Other artists and brands have already provided Melania Trump’s jacket, many of which are also donating the funds to pro-immigration efforts.
Just once, I’d like to see the White House get their stories straight, just to see what it feels like.
