President Obama returned to his 4-year childhood home of Jakarta, Indonesia at the tail end of a 10-day family trip to deliver a heartfelt speech the whole word needs to hear.
The majority of his speech didn’t focus on the current political climate in America, but the part that did said it all. He took a shot at Trump that only Obama knows how to take.
Barack praised the people of Indonesia for embracing the differences in people. He highlighted that quality as one of his greatest memories of living part of his childhood there.
Then came the part of his speech when he mentioned the success of the Paris climate accord — a deal he worked hard with other world leaders to create. Trump infamously chose to withdraw from the deal citing that it was a “bad deal” for America. In reality, he made the decision solely to spite Obama and help his friends in the oil business.
“In Paris, we came together around the most ambitious agreement in history about climate change, an agreement that even with the temporary absence of American leadership, can still give our children a fighting chance.”
He couldn’t have said it any better. Right now, America has a man in the White House who has reduced the presidency to a trashy reality TV show.
Here is the perfect advice for Trump:
“I wasn’t worried about what was in the newspapers today. What I was worried about was, ‘What are they going to write about me 20 years from now when I look back?'” Obama stated.
How much do you miss having a real leader in the White House?
