NJ Governor Chris Christie decided to shut down the government right in time for Fourth of July weekend. Then he had the audacity to visit his beach home with his family and lie to reporters about how much sun he got.
Once photos of him emerged lounging in his beach chair, it became evident that he was catching some rays.
Christie responded to the Newark Star-Ledger photo leak by ridiculing them for their efforts. He stated:
“What a great bit of journalism by The Star-Ledger. They actually caught a politician being where he said he was going to be with the people he said he was going to be with, his wife and children and their friends. I am sure they will get a Pulitzer for this one. They caught me doing what I said I was going to do with the people I said I was going to be with.”
On Sunday during a press conference, Christie specifically told reporters: “I didn’t get any sun today.”
Christie’s spokesman Brian Murray later appeared on CNN and said:
“Yes, the governor was on the beach briefly today, talking to his wife and family before heading into the office. He did not get any sun. He had a baseball hat on.”
